 On who gets to be a bouncer: Bees' jobs are based on their age; I can't remember the exact succession (And I think there's overlap based on need), but in general, younger bees have jobs inside the hive like taking care of the queen or brood, disposing of corpses, temperature control, building/maintenance, and filling/capping honeycombs. Guards are middle-aged bees, and the oldest bees scout/forage for food. It would be kind of sad seeing old bald bees stuck in the grass around the hive. They definitely have muscles and are pretty strong for their size! They're about the least aggressive they'll get in this stage because they don't have anything to protect; we'd semi-regularly get calls about a swarm and drive out to catch them and put them in a hive.

 Oh, you should have been there the day after we used up the last of the chocolate ice cream, so people couldn't get the twist ice cream cone any more.So salty we didn't have to fill the shakers for the fries.
