 We were generally just short staffed and where I worked paid for and was licensed to do training and hands on classes so every day was also extremely long. I mostly did grunt work but helped with check ups and gave out medications that were checked by our manager (who is an RN) and had to help with all the paperwork and things the bosses wanted RNs for. It was minor things that either person could technically do, but was in a small town where if you quit you were out of a job until someone else quit something. A lot of the people who work with children have hearts bigger than the rooms the cafeterias the children eat in. These people do their work because they want to see the world be a better place for the children they help. These people aren't in it for the money and the good ones often put their money right back into the program that is barely paying them anything. It is criminal how little teachers are paid and how little of the educational budget actually goes towards the teachers.
